Radisson RED Oslo Opens as Verified Net Zero Hotel

Radisson Hotel Group has officially opened Radisson RED Oslo City Centre, one of the first hotels in the world to achieve Verified Net Zero status. Located in the heart of Norway’s capital, the newly transformed hotel offers guests a bold blend of modern Scandinavian design and climate-conscious hospitality.
Formerly the Park Inn by Radisson, the 118-room property has undergone a full renovation to meet the 2040 Verified Net Zero Methodology for Hotels, verified by TÜV Rheinland. The hotel eliminates direct emissions (Scope 1 & 2) and dramatically reduces operational emissions (Scope 3), setting a new standard for sustainable travel.
Guests staying at the Oslo City Centre location will find signature RED design, tech-forward amenities, and vibrant social spaces including a restaurant, bar, lounge, gym, and six flexible meeting rooms. Located steps from the Oslo Opera House and Aker Brygge promenade, it offers instant access to culture, dining, and shopping.
Eco features visible to guests include:
-
100% renewable energy from electricity and Oslo’s district heating system
-
Low-carbon, seasonal menus developed with Klimato, reducing food emissions by up to 40%
-
Zero-waste operations, including food waste tracking (eSmiley) and partnerships like Too Good To Go
-
Plastic-free amenities and bulk bathroom products recycled via Clean the World
-
In-room recycling, digital concierge tools, and reusable glass water bottles
“This opening marks a huge milestone for sustainable hospitality,” said Inge Huijbrechts, Chief Sustainability & Security Officer at Radisson Hotel Group. “With most buildings that must reach Net Zero by 2050 already built, it’s essential we act now to transform existing properties.”
The project is Radisson’s second Verified Net Zero hotel, following a launch in Manchester earlier this summer. All remaining emissions are offset through carbon removal certificates via Nature-Based Solutions, in partnership with Agreena.
Tom Flanagan Karttunen, COO for Leased Hotels, added: “With this opening, we’re proving that energy-efficient, zero-carbon transformations are not just possible, but necessary. Guests no longer have to choose between comfort and sustainability—they can have both.”
Radisson RED Oslo City Centre now stands as a model for future-forward travel, offering a stylish, low-impact stay that aligns with a greener future.
