Qatar Airways Suspends Flights Amid Airspace Closure
Qatar Airways has temporarily suspended all flight operations following the closure of Qatari airspace, with services expected to resume only once authorities confirm it is safe to reopen.
In a service update, the airline said it will restart operations once the Qatar Civil Aviation Authority announces that the country’s airspace has reopened. The carrier plans to provide another operational update on March 6 at 09:00 Doha time (06:00 UTC).
Passengers with confirmed bookings between February 28 and March 10, 2026 are eligible for flexible travel options. These include complimentary date changes of up to 14 days from the original travel date or a refund for the unused value of their ticket.
Due to the widespread disruption, Qatar Airways said its customer service channels are experiencing very high call volumes. The airline is asking passengers to contact support only if they are scheduled to travel within the next 48 hours.
Customers with bookings later in the travel window are encouraged to manage their reservations directly through qatarairways.com or the Qatar Airways mobile app, where flight changes and other options can be processed more quickly.
Travellers who purchased tickets through travel agencies or third-party booking platforms should contact those providers directly for assistance.
Qatar Airways said it appreciates passengers’ patience while operations remain suspended and continues to monitor the situation closely as regional airspace conditions evolve.
