Qatar Airways Debuts Starlink on Boeing 787 and A350 Fleets
Qatar Airways has achieved a major industry milestone by launching the **world’s first Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner equipped with Starlink, while completing the Starlink retrofit across its Airbus A350 fleet. The rollout connects over 11 million passengers with high-speed, gate-to-gate Wi-Fi across long-haul and ultra-long-haul routes.
The Doha-based airline, recognised as “World’s Best Airline” by Skytrax in 2025, operates nearly 120 Starlink-equipped widebody aircraft, making it the largest Starlink-connected fleet in the world. The programme follows rapid installations on Boeing 777 and Airbus A350 aircraft and now extends to Dreamliners, marking Qatar Airways as the first carrier globally to secure Starlink certification for Boeing 787-8 aircraft.
Starlink’s satellite-based connectivity delivers ultra-fast internet speeds that support streaming, video calls and real-time productivity similar to home broadband networks. The technology has been available on Qatar Airways flights since October 2024 and continues to expand coverage across the airline’s global network, serving destinations in the Americas, Europe, Asia, Australia, Africa and the Middle East.
Qatar Airways says the achievement underscores its leadership in upgrading in-flight services and digital innovation, reinforcing its reputation for enhancing the passenger experience.
