Tourism Cares awarded Travel Philanthropy Awards finalists
The tourism industry nonprofit sponsored by Travel Weekly presented Travel Philanthropy Awards for three travel companies, in advance of the Readers Choice Awards ceremony
The Travel Philanthropy Awards gala was welcomed by Conrad New York hotel, with the help of additional sponsors like Amadeus, Collette, Fathom, MaCher, Marriott, NYC & Company.
The judges decided to honor Myths and Mountains and Lindblad Expeditions with the Legacy Award, for more than 15 years positive industry impact.
Myths and Mountains are creators of the Rural Education and Development Global library and have a 25 years of history in supporting education in poor countries, such as in Nepal, India and Bhutan.
On the other hand, Lindblad Expeditions was recognized for supporting marine research, conservation, education and community development projects.
Indonesian Nikoi Island was awarded with the New Innovators Award for philanthropic achievement related to creation of learning and business centers for the community.
The Personal Philanthropic Leadership Award went to Patty and John Noel, founders of the Noel Group, Travel Guard International and Berkshire Hathaway Travel Protection.
The Noels have received the award to recognize their sustained implication in educational and medical programs, for causes ranging from US to South Africa, such as Compass Scholars program, the Boys & Girls Club of Portage Bay and the Make a Mark Foundation.
