Minor Hotels Targets Aggressive Expansion in India with Plans for 50 New Properties

Hotels & Resorts

Minor Hotels announces plans to open 50 properties in India over the next decade, focusing on luxury and upper-upscale segments, and marks the debut of its Anantara brand with a new office in Bengaluru.

Minor Hotels Set to Expand Its Footprint in India's Booming Hospitality Market

Minor Hotels, a global player with over 540 properties across 56 countries, is gearing up to significantly enhance its presence in India. The group has unveiled ambitious plans to open 50 new properties within the next ten years, emphasizing the luxury and upper-upscale segments of the hospitality market.

Strategic Focus on Luxury and Lifestyle Brands

The group’s strategy includes expanding its Anantara, Avani, and NH Collection brands, which cater to distinct market needs. Anantara Hotels & Resorts will focus on unique properties like Ayurvedic wellness retreats and historical palaces. Avani Hotels & Resorts aims to capture the lifestyle hotel sector across India, while NH Collection will target upper-upscale conversion opportunities. Additionally, the upscale NH Hotels & Resorts brand sees potential in tier two cities and near airports.

Amir Golbarg, SVP for Middle East, Africa, and India at Minor Hotels, commented on the expansion, "We are very optimistic about the growth prospects in India. The interest from property owners has been encouraging, and our approach is to forge partnerships that resonate with our brand values and long-term vision."

Anantara's Debut and New Operational Hub

This expansion drive is marked by the opening of the Anantara Jaipur Hotel later this year, introducing Minor's flagship luxury brand to India. To support its growth strategy, Minor has also opened a new office in Bengaluru, establishing a strategic base to tap into southern India's potential.

Vijay Krishnan has been appointed as Vice President of Operations for India, leading the expansion. Dillip Rajakarier, CEO of Minor Hotels and Group CEO of Minor International, expressed confidence in the region: "India's potential as a premier destination and its growing domestic market present immense opportunities. Our commitment is reflected in our continued investment to enhance our operations and presence in India."

Recognition and Loyalty Among Indian Travelers

Anantara, in particular, has seen significant growth from Indian travelers, with notable increases in room night production across its properties in Asia and the Middle East. Additionally, Minor Hotels participates in GHA DISCOVERY, the world's largest alliance of independent hotel brands, where revenue from Indian members has notably increased, signaling strong market engagement.

As Minor Hotels continues to expand globally, its focus on India highlights the country’s importance as a key market in its strategic growth plans, aiming to strengthen its brand presence and cater to an increasing number of travelers seeking luxury and unique experiences.
