
Czech Republic’s Tourism is Getting Back to Pre-Pandemic Levels

The Czech Statistical Office has reported that a number of 3.8 million guests have been registered during Q1 of 2023.
The Czech Statistical Office has revealed recently that a total number of 3.8 million guests have been registered in accommodation establishments in the Czech Republic during the first quarter of this year.
SchengenVisaInfo.com reported that Director of the Trade, Transport, Services, Tourism, and Environmental Statistics Department at the Czech Statistical Office, Marie Bouskova, pointed out the fact that the number guests from abroad had increased by nearly 90 per cent on an annual basis.
CZSO statistics show that of the total guests registered during the first quarter this year, 2,1 million were from the domestic market and 1,7 million came from abroad.
In the first quarter 2023, the same source reported that collective accommodation establishments had a total of 9.9 million guest nights. This represents a 26.4 percent increase compared to last year's same period.
The number of domestic visitors was also more prominent, with a five percent increase in overnight stays when compared to the 1st quarter of 2019.
CZSO data also shows that the number of hotel guests increased by 43,4% in the first quarter of 2023. In the first quarter 2023, hotels recorded 2.9 millions guest arrivals.
In the same source, it was noted that ten percent of guests were housed in boardinghouses while one tenth of all other accommodations were in hotels.
The following regions are expected to be the most popular in the Czech Republic during the first quarter 2023:
- Prague
- Karlovarsky region
- Kralovehradecky region
- Liberecky region
CZSO statistics also show that the number local guests staying in accommodation facilities within mountain tourism regions is decreasing from one year to the next. The number of residents arriving in the region decreased by more than five percent. Even in Kralovehradecky, the number stays of local customers dropped by seven percent, followed by Liberecky by eight per cent.
In terms of international arrivals in the Czech Republic, Germans accounted for the largest number with 438,000 arrivals. This is 188.3% of the total.
Slovaks were the second largest group of arrivals, with 154,000 arrivals (158.8%), followed by Poles at 133,000 arrivals (170.5%).
