Air Baltic launches new Oulu–Riga route with five weekly flights
Oulu Airport has marked the launch of a new direct route to Riga, operated by Air Baltic, with the first flight departing on March 30, 2026.
The new service will run five times per week, on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays, offering improved connectivity between Northern Finland and the Baltic region.
The route is designed to provide efficient onward connections via Riga Airport, particularly benefiting passengers departing early in the morning from Oulu. Travelers will gain easier access to a wide range of European destinations, while the connection is also expected to bring more international visitors to Northern Finland.
The launch comes at a significant moment for the city of Oulu, which holds the title of European Capital of Culture in 2026, boosting its international profile and tourism appeal.
Flights on the route are operated using a 148-seat Airbus A220-300 aircraft, with services scheduled to run through the end of October 2026.
Air Baltic continues to expand its presence in Finland, already operating routes from Tampere, Turku and Helsinki, with additional services planned from Kuusamo Airport next winter.
The new Oulu–Riga connection highlights growing regional demand for direct air links and improved accessibility across Northern Europe.
