Philip Jansen Appointed New Chairman of Heathrow
Heathrow Airport Holdings has announced that Philip Jansen will become Chairman of the Board from 1 January 2026, succeeding Lord Paul Deighton, who steps down on 31 December after nine years in the role.
Jansen brings more than 30 years of international leadership experience, having previously served as Chief Executive of BT Group, Worldpay Group and Sodexo. He is currently Chair of WPP plc. Heathrow says his strong commercial background and experience operating in highly regulated environments make him well suited to guide the airport through its next phase of modernisation and long-term strategy.
Lord Paul Deighton’s tenure saw Heathrow undergo a multi-billion-pound investment programme, helping transform the airport into a leading global hub and steering the business through the COVID-19 crisis and subsequent recovery.
Commenting on his appointment, Philip Jansen said Heathrow is “the UK’s gateway to growth” and described his new role as an opportunity to support the airport as it modernises and expands.
Heathrow CEO Thomas Woldbye welcomed the appointment, saying Jansen’s guidance will be key as the airport advances its development plans, while also paying tribute to Lord Deighton’s “fantastic stewardship” and lasting legacy.
Lord Deighton said it had been a privilege to serve as Chairman and highlighted Heathrow’s role as a national asset and a vital driver of UK economic growth.
