New Contracted Taxi Company to Start at Kuopio Airport in October 2025

Finavia has entered into a new agreement with Meininki Yhtiöt Oy to provide contracted taxi services at Kuopio Airport starting 1 October 2025. The newly signed contract ensures improved availability of taxis for passengers, particularly during peak times aligned with flight arrivals and departures.

 

Kuopion Taksiykköset, the existing contracted provider, will continue its operations at the airport without any changes.

“We have positive experiences with competitive tendering at Kuopio Airport. It helps ensure the availability of taxis when passengers need them most,” says Raija Niskanen, Airport Manager at Kuopio Airport.

Improved Service and Passenger Flexibility

Dedicated taxi lanes located directly in front of the terminal entrance will now serve the contracted companies, Meininki Yhtiöt Oy and Kuopion Taksiykköset.

Other taxi providers will continue to have access to a separate nearby area for pickups and drop-offs. Kuopio Airport also maintains a waiting zone for pre-booked taxis, preserving flexibility for passengers to select their preferred taxi service.

Competitive Tendering Ensures Availability

Since 2023, Finavia has used competitive tendering to allocate access to the official airport taxi ranks. The selection criteria include the provider’s ability to deliver a high level of service and to align availability with the schedule of arriving and departing flights.

Importantly, Finavia does not regulate taxi prices. All taxi companies operating at the airport remain responsible for their own pricing.

Contract Details

The contract with Meininki Yhtiöt Oy is valid until July 2027, with an optional one-year extension available.
