Munich Airport Introduces Snackbot JEEVES for Passengers

Airlines & Airports

Munich Airport launches JEEVES, a self-driving service robot offering chilled drinks and snacks, marking a first in airport amenities worldwide.

Munich Airport has taken a significant step forward in enhancing passenger convenience by deploying JEEVES, a self-driving service robot, to sell drinks and snacks. This innovation is the first of its kind at any airport globally, bringing a novel shopping experience directly to travelers. Named after a character from an English novel known for his reliability and skill, JEEVES offers a selection of chilled beverages and snacks with an easy cashless payment system, accommodating Apple Pay, Google Pay, and major credit cards.

Standing 110 centimeters tall, the snackbot navigates autonomously around the gate areas on Levels 4 and 5 of Terminal 2, pausing whenever passengers approach or block its path. Purchases are made through a user-friendly touchscreen interface.

Developed by the Munich-based start-up Robotise, JEEVES is part of a one-year trial conducted by Terminal 2 Gesellschaft, a joint venture of Munich Airport and Lufthansa. This venture into robotics aims not just to streamline logistics but also to gauge passenger response and enrich the overall travel experience. The introduction of JEEVES aligns with Munich Airport's ambition to position itself as a leading center for innovation and premium services.
