Munich Airport expands network with 220 destinations for summer 2026

Airlines & Airports

Munich Airport will significantly expand its global network for the summer 2026 season, with 90 airlines operating more than 206,000 flights to 220 destinations across 70 countries.

The new schedule, running from March 29 to October 24, includes additional frequencies, new routes and larger aircraft, offering more options for both business and leisure travellers.

On long-haul routes, Lufthansa is increasing capacity on several key destinations. Flights to Johannesburg and São Paulo will operate three times per week, while the Seattle route will see an increase to six weekly flights. From July, Lufthansa will also deploy the Airbus A380 on its Munich–Mumbai route, replacing the smaller A350.

EVA Air is upgrading its Taipei service with a larger Boeing 777-300 aircraft starting April 22, significantly increasing capacity, particularly in premium cabins.

Connections to the Middle East are also expanding. Etihad Airways will increase its Munich–Abu Dhabi service from two to three daily flights from September 1, using the Airbus A321LR for the additional frequency. Royal Jordanian will resume flights to Amman from March 27 with three weekly services, while Gulf Air will upgrade its Bahrain route to daily flights from July. Air Arabia will continue its daily flights to Sharjah.

In North Africa, Royal Air Maroc is increasing flights to Casablanca from two to three per week.

Across Europe, several new destinations are being added. Air Corsica will launch flights to Ajaccio in June and Calvi in July. Discover Airlines is adding Skiathos and continuing services to northern destinations such as Harstad-Narvik in Norway.

easyJet will introduce four weekly flights to Bristol, while Volotea will begin twice-weekly services to Strasbourg from April 9. Lufthansa will maintain daily flights to Istanbul, and SunExpress will operate twice-weekly services to Edremit.

Romanian carrier Animawings will launch three weekly flights to Bucharest from April 2, further strengthening connections between Germany and Romania.

Additional regional routes include new services from Skyhub PAD to Pécs and Lübeck, while Scandinavian Airlines will increase its Munich–Copenhagen route to three daily flights.

The expanded schedule reinforces Munich Airport’s position as a key European hub, offering increased connectivity and flexibility for travellers worldwide.
