Alaska Airlines Adds Santa Rosa Routes and Returns to Long Beach

Airlines & Airports

Alaska Airlines is doubling down on California with four new nonstop routes, expanding service from Santa Rosa's Charles M. Schulz-Sonoma County Airport and making a long-awaited return to Long Beach after a decade away.

From Santa Rosa, Alaska will launch three new seasonal routes starting November 1, 2026. Daily flights to Phoenix and Salt Lake City, and up to daily service to Boise, will all operate through April 2027 aboard Embraer E175 aircraft. Salt Lake City and Boise are currently unserved markets from the North Bay and are timed to open just as ski season gets underway. Phoenix adds another popular leisure destination, bringing Santa Rosa's total nonstop network to 12 destinations. Alaska has been the largest carrier at the airport since it first brought commercial service there nearly two decades ago.

For wine lovers, the airline's Wine Flies Free programme remains in place, allowing Atmos Rewards members to check a full case of up to 12 bottles at no extra charge — a handy perk for travellers bringing home Sonoma County vintages.

The Long Beach news is equally significant. Alaska will resume service between Long Beach Municipal Airport and Seattle from September 8, 2026, with two daily year-round flights operated by Boeing 737 aircraft. The route marks the airline's return to LGB after a ten-year absence, and with it, Alaska becomes the only carrier connecting Seattle to all five major LA Basin airports.

On the connectivity front, Alaska's entire regional fleet — including the E175s serving Santa Rosa — is already equipped with Starlink Wi-Fi, offering gate-to-gate internet access. Starlink is also being rolled out across the mainline fleet serving Long Beach throughout 2026.
