Mumbai Rains Expected to Resume After Short Break; IMD Updates Alert

Mumbai's short break from monsoon weather is done. The India Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert, so expect heavy rain starting Tuesday. This could mean water on the roads, traffic problems, and train delays for commuters in the city and surrounding areas as the rains return.
Following a short break from heavy rainfall, Mumbai is getting ready for more rain this week. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert, cautioning that more rain is expected to hit the city and surrounding areas starting Tuesday.
The city was just starting to get back to normal after last week’s constant rain, which caused flooded streets, traffic delays, and disruptions to local train services. Over the weekend, people enjoyed a short period of better weather, but the monsoon season is not over yet.
IMD Prediction: What to Expect
- August 22–25: Mostly cloudy with some rain. Daytime temperatures will be around 30°C, with cooler nights around 25–26°C.
- August 26: A heavy rain alert has been issued, with widespread rain expected throughout the city.
- August 27–28: Rain will continue mid-week, but no official warning has been issued. Temperatures may drop slightly to 28°C during the day and 25°C at night.
In addition to Mumbai, the IMD has also issued a yellow alert for light rain today in Thane, Raigad, Satara, Kolhapur, Osmanabad, Beed, and Nanded districts.
A Warning for Commuters
For Mumbai residents, the return of heavy rain could mean familiar problems: flooded roads, longer travel times because of traffic, and train delays. Officials are advising residents to keep up with weather updates and plan their travel accordingly.
The city’s ability to handle the monsoon is well known, but with alerts back in place, both residents and city services are preparing again for the problems that come with the season.
