Milan Bergamo Airport Launches Bike Challenge for Schools

SACBO, the operator of Milan Bergamo Airport, has launched the “Bike Future Challenge,” a new educational project targeting upper secondary schools in Bergamo and surrounding areas for the 2025–2026 school year.

The initiative aims to raise awareness among students about sustainable mobility, cycle tourism, and slow tourism. Schools that sign up by November 28, 2025, will participate in a program designed to inspire creative thinking and real-world action for a greener future.

Milan Bergamo Airport, recognized as Europe’s first "Bike Friendly" airport, is using this project to promote responsible travel choices among younger generations. Students will explore sustainable transport options, meet professionals from the mobility sector, and work on projects aligned with the UN’s 2030 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Key features of the challenge include:

• Development of civic, environmental, and cultural education skills

• Proposal of innovative ideas for sustainable mobility

• Engagement in workplace-simulated activities and community impact initiatives

• Opportunities to meet startups, experts, and NGOs working in the green mobility space

Participating schools can submit creative projects, tour the airport’s cycle-friendly facilities, and attend a final event featuring presentations and workshops.
