M26 in Kent Shut Down London-Bound Following Major Collision, Tube Delays Persist

News

Severe collision on M26 and ongoing Tube delays disrupt London-bound travel, with emergency and engineering works affecting road and rail services.

The M26 motorway in Kent has been closed in the London-bound direction between Junction Three, connecting to the M25 and A21 near Chipstead, following a severe accident involving a lorry and a van. Emergency services were dispatched to the scene due to the gravity of the collision.

In addition to road traffic issues, London's public transport network is also experiencing disruptions. The London Underground's Piccadilly Line service towards Heathrow Airport from Acton Town has been suspended on Wednesday due to ongoing engineering works, with services expected to resume on Thursday.

Furthermore, the Central Line is facing minor delays attributed to a shortage of available trains, affecting commuters' travel plans.

Additional transport challenges include disruptions between London Liverpool Street and Tottenham Hale, caused by a signal system fault between Clapton and Tottenham Hale. This has led to delays and revisions in train services, with some being diverted via Seven Sisters. In response, the Victoria Line is accommodating Greater Anglia ticket holders between Tottenham Hale and Seven Sisters to help ease the inconvenience, with disruptions anticipated to continue until further notice.

Key Transportation Updates:

  • M26 Closure:** A significant accident involving a lorry and a van has led to the closure of the M26 London-bound, with emergency services on site.
  • Tube Delays:** The Piccadilly Line is temporarily closed to Heathrow from Acton Town due to engineering works, while minor delays are reported on the Central Line due to a train shortage.
  • Rail Disruptions:** Faulty signaling between Clapton and Tottenham Hale has disrupted services between London Liverpool Street and Tottenham Hale, with some trains being diverted and the Victoria Line accepting Greater Anglia tickets for affected routes.
