Airlines & Airports

Lufthansa Group has announced a major collaboration with Starlink to equip its entire fleet with high-speed broadband internet. The upgrade will span all Lufthansa Group airlines and approximately 850 aircraft, covering both the existing fleet and new deliveries.

The satellite-based service, expected to debut on flights as early as the second half of 2026, offers significantly higher speeds and bandwidth than traditional in-flight connectivity systems, enabling passengers to stream video, work in the cloud, and use other data-intensive applications during flights.

Lufthansa Group says the Wi-Fi service will be provided free of charge for frequent flyers with status and users of its Travel ID system across all travel classes, making it one of the most comprehensive in-flight internet offerings in European aviation.

The rollout will be phased, with full fleet installation targeted for completion by 2029. According to the group, this initiative not only improves passenger experience but also reinforces the airline’s broader investments in customer service and digital innovation.

In a statement, Lufthansa Group’s Chief Commercial Officer said the Starlink partnership represents a key milestone in advancing next-generation connectivity as part of the group’s ongoing evolution of its premium travel product
