Lufthansa Group proudly celebrates a significant milestone - 55 years of continuous service connecting Germany with Japan's Kansai region, renowned as the nation's cultural and historical core. Since 1969, Lufthansa German Airlines has facilitated a bridge between Germany and the cities of Kyoto, Osaka, Nara, and Kobe, enriching the bond between the two countries.

Over the decades, Lufthansa Group's commitment to Japan has not only persisted but flourished. Recent enhancements include the reintroduction of Japanese catering across all cabin classes on flights between Japan and Germany, with SWISS also introducing Japanese meals in Business Class for its Switzerland-Tokyo routes. These culinary offerings reflect Lufthansa Group's dedication to providing an authentic and comfortable travel experience for passengers.

The summer schedule of 2024 sees Lufthansa Group operating 31 weekly flights to Japan, servicing Haneda, Narita, and Osaka airports. Notably, the Munich-Kansai route will see a significant increase in operations, moving to daily flights to accommodate growing demand and support the upcoming Expo'25 hosted in the Kansai region. Larry Ryan, Senior Director of Sales for Japan and South Korea, highlighted the expansion as a response to customer needs and an exciting development for European connections.

As Japan gears up for Expo'25, Lufthansa Group's expanded capacity and continued investment in the Kansai region underscore a long-standing relationship founded on mutual heritage and deep connections. This anniversary not only celebrates past achievements but also looks forward to fostering stronger ties between Japan and Germany in the years to come.
