Lufthansa Certifies Allegris Business Class Seats on Boeing 787-9
Lufthansa has received certification for 25 Allegris Business Class seats on its Boeing 787-9 aircraft, marking a key milestone in the rollout of its new premium cabin product.
The first flight featuring the newly certified seats operated on 15 March 2026 from Frankfurt to Toronto, using the aircraft registered D-ABPM, named “Potsdam.” The airline confirmed that additional Boeing 787-9 aircraft equipped with Allegris seats are already in service or will enter operation shortly.
With the certification in place, Lufthansa has opened last-minute bookings for Allegris Business Class seats on flights departing from 18 March onwards.
Passengers flying from Frankfurt can already experience the new cabin on routes to destinations including Austin, Rio de Janeiro, Bogotá, Hyderabad, Mumbai and Toronto. From the start of the summer schedule on 29 March, additional destinations will include Cape Town, Shanghai and Hong Kong, with New York JFK and Los Angeles set to follow in June, and Delhi in July.
The Allegris Business Class introduces a range of seat options designed to enhance passenger comfort and personalization. While the standard “Classic Seat” remains free to select, travelers can choose upgraded options for an additional fee. These include the Business Class Suite, seats with extra legroom, window seats offering increased privacy, and an Extra Long Bed option with a reclining surface of up to 2.20 meters.
Lufthansa has been gradually introducing the Allegris product since October 2025 on its Boeing 787-9 fleet operating from Frankfurt. The airline has so far received ten aircraft of this type, with nine currently in active service.
The carrier plans to expand its Dreamliner fleet to a total of 29 Boeing 787-9 aircraft by the end of 2027 as part of its broader strategy to modernize the onboard experience and strengthen its long-haul offering.
