Korean Air Boosts International Flights for Summer 2024

Airlines & Airports

Korean Air announces service resumptions to China, Europe, and Southeast Asia, along with increased flight frequencies on major routes for summer 2024, reaching 96% of pre-pandemic capacity.

Korean Air is gearing up to significantly expand its international services for the summer season of 2024, starting March 31. The expansion is set to include the resumption of flights to several cities across China, Europe, and Southeast Asia, as well as increased flight frequencies on key routes. This strategic enhancement in service aims to bring the airline's international capacity to approximately 96% of its pre-pandemic levels, measured in available seat kilometers (ASK).

Resuming Routes Across the Globe

The airline's expansion strategy includes resuming operations to vital destinations that have been on pause. Notably, on April 2, Korean Air will reintroduce three weekly flights from Seoul Incheon to Zurich. This move caters to the robust demand for travel to the Swiss city, a renowned summer vacation spot.

April will see further expansions into China with the resumption of the Seoul Incheon-Zhangjiajie route on April 23, offering three weekly flights. Zhangjiajie, celebrated for its stunning natural landscapes and recognition as a UNESCO World Natural Heritage site, gained additional fame as the inspiration for the fictional world of Pandora in James Cameron’s “Avatar.”

Additionally, on April 24, Korean Air will restart its operations on the Seoul Incheon-Zhengzhou route with four weekly flights. Zhengzhou attracts tourists with its natural beauty, historical sites such as the Shaolin Temple, and its proximity to Taihangshan and Songshan mountains.

The airline will also be reinstating daily flights on the Busan-Bangkok route starting April 25, marking a significant return nearly four years since the route was paused due to the pandemic.

Increased Frequencies on Popular Routes

In response to increasing demand, Korean Air plans to augment flight frequencies on several of its most popular international routes. The Seoul Incheon-Budapest route will see an increase from three to four weekly flights. The Hungarian capital is not only a tourist favorite but also serves as a significant hub for the manufacturing sector, particularly for battery and automotive components.

The airline will boost its Seoul Incheon-Bangkok and Seoul Incheon-Manila routes to four and three daily flights, respectively, offering travelers enhanced flexibility and connectivity. Additionally, following a recent increase in January, the Seoul Incheon-Bali route now boasts eleven weekly flights.

In North America, the Seoul Incheon-Dallas route will transition from four weekly flights to a daily service, facilitating better access and connectivity to the south-central United States for international travelers.

Korean Air's summer 2024 expansion reflects its adaptive strategy to cater to the evolving demand across its global network. By continuously monitoring travel trends and seasonal demand shifts, Korean Air aims to provide optimized schedules and improve the overall customer experience, reaffirming its commitment to reconnecting the world and enriching the travel options for its passengers.
