KLM Operates Repatriation Flights Amid Middle East Crisis

News

KLM Royal Dutch Airlines is continuing to suspend flights to several Middle Eastern destinations while organizing repatriation flights to help stranded Dutch travellers return home.

The airline confirmed that it will operate a special repatriation flight on March 6 from Muscat, Oman, via Cairo to Amsterdam Schiphol, in cooperation with the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The flight is expected to arrive in the Netherlands on Saturday morning and will carry eligible travellers who have registered through the government’s crisis contact system.

The flight is intended for Dutch residents currently stranded in the region. Passengers wishing to join the repatriation effort must register with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, which determines eligibility and assigns the available seats. Authorities have advised travellers to only go to the airport after receiving official confirmation due to the ongoing security situation.

Earlier this week, another KLM aircraft safely returned to Amsterdam from Muscat, carrying stranded passengers and KLM staff. The flight was operated under exceptional circumstances and coordinated closely with government authorities.

Meanwhile, KLM has extended the suspension of flights to Dubai, Riyadh and Dammam through at least March 8 due to continuing unrest and safety concerns in the region. The airline does not currently operate flights to other Middle Eastern destinations.

The carrier says it is closely monitoring developments and will only resume operations once it is confirmed that regional airspace is safe for civil aviation. In the meantime, KLM is working with Air France and Delta Air Lines to explore alternative travel options for affected passengers.

KLM emphasized that the safety of passengers and crew remains its top priority, and the airline continues to assess the situation as it evolves while assisting travellers still affected by the disruptions.
