Kerala Builds India's Longest Glass Bridge

Destinations & Tourism

The longest panoramic glass bridge in the country is now open to the public, thanks to the efforts of Kerala's Tourism Minister PA Mohammed Riyas.

The impressive construction is 40 meters in length and sits in the Vagamon highlands, 1,100 meters above sea level. The view from the end of the bridge is stunning, taking in the surrounding hills and depressions as well as the picturesque villages of Koottikkal and Kokkayar.

Up to 15 people may cross at once on this sturdy steel cable and pole bridge, which provides a bird's-eye view of the Vagamon hill station below.

Visitors who appreciate nature would find peace in the breathtaking vistas and a sense of being one with the natural world. If you make your way over the glass bridge, you'll be treated to a breathtaking view of the area, while you can also indulge in the many other exciting activities available at the DTPC's adventure tourist park.

The district tourist development council and Bharat Mata Ventures Pvt Ltd formed a public-private collaboration to complete this project, which cost a total of INR 3 crore to complete. Officials in the tourist industry are hopeful that the opening of the glass bridge would boost Wagamon's economy.

The spectacular attraction was built using around 35 tons of steel brought in from Germany.
