International Travel is Back at Its Highest Point Since the Pandemic

News

According to the World Travel and Tourism Council, international travel is back at its highest level since the outbreak of the pandemic.

According to the latest survey by YouGov, more than 63% of people intend to travel abroad for leisure in the next 12 months.

Global survey included questions from approximately 26,000 respondents in 25 countries.

It was also discovered that international travel is on the rise with 25% of consumers planning to take three or more trips in the next year.

It is Australians who plan to travel the most in the next year. The nation topped the survey's top ten list for highest expenditure.

The Australian government implemented some of its most persistent restrictions during the Covid-19 pandemic. This effectively restricted international travel for almost two years . The Philippines, Saudi Arabia, and Canada are the top spenders on 2023 travel.

Sustainable travel is now a top concern for holidaymakers, with over 61% of respondents preferring to travel to destinations or brands that are more sustainable.

Nearly half of respondents stated that they would only book travel from brands that are environmentally and socially responsible.

“The results of this global survey also show the growing importance of sustainable travel among consumers,” said Julia Simpson, WTTC president and chief executive.

These findings were made public as Saudi Arabia prepares for hosting the World Travel and Tourism Council in Riyadh to host its annual global summit.

The three-day event, which will be held in the Kingdom under the theme Travel for Better Futures, will see international speakers, leaders in tourism and travel as well as government officials and representatives from the country.

This annual event gives industry professionals the opportunity to come together to support the industry's recovery and create a more sustainable, resilient, inclusive, and sustainable future.

“This global survey shows that international travel is back. As we kick off our Global Summit in Riyadh bringing together global travel leaders and governments from around the world, travelers are getting ready to explore the world again” mentioned Simpson.
