Indian Travel Companies Aim At Raising Profits in 2023
According to the American Express Survey Report, 77% of Indian firms want to raise their travel spending this year.
American Express, India authorized the Centre for Economics and Business Research to conduct a study on corporate travel and entertainment. The results were published in a paper titled "Revival of business travel: An India perspective".
Most Indian companies anticipate an increase in business business travel in 2023 (67%), and 77% anticipate a rise in their travel expenditure in 2023. This is attributed to a recovery in business travel across both domestic and overseas markets after the coronavirus crisis.
To further illustrate the significance of technology in the travel industry, the research shows that 79% of Indian organisations assessed utilise business travel data analytics to aid in trip booking and spending. The travel technology industry, like the wider IT industry, is always developing cutting-edge new products and services, as the key-players saw improved software for managing spending and travel as a significant development of the industry. Two-thirds of businesses (66%) use corporate accounts with third-party booking platforms as their primary means of actually paying for business travellers' trips.
Furthermore, the main conclusions of the study included:
A little more than half of companies (53%) said that in the second half of 2022, at least some of their workers travelled either internationally or inside the country for business. Those in the public and government sectors, followed by those in marketing, sales, real estate, professional services, and the pharmaceutical industry, are the most likely to take extended travels. 41% of firms travelled to conferences, seminars, or events.
The majority of respondents (50%) chose Mumbai as their preferred domestic business trip location, while 44% chose the United States as their preferred foreign business trip choice.
In addition, around eighty-seven percent of corporations planned to raise their travel budgets in 2023.
As far as technology is concerned, the advances in the travel industry is shown by the fact that 79% of Indian businesses surveyed utilise business travel data analytics to help in trip booking and spending. Also, 75% reported using some kind of trip software solutions.
Almost all companies (92%) have some kind of travel policy in place, and another 6% are in the policy-making process. When asked what elements make up their travel policy, 46% of organisations chose maximums for reservations like hotels, flights, and transportation services.
More specifically, 43% of those in charge of budgets said that they factor in exceptions or regulations for more costly places, and the same percentage said that they incorporate routes and permission procedures for trips that go beyond customary boundaries.
About a third of respondents (36%) also chose eco - efficiency issues, showing that this is becoming an increasingly important concern.
The study sample included more than 500 companies spread over 100 different Indian cities. Eighty-two percent of responding organisations in the poll report having 250 or more workers.
