ITA Airways to launch Rome–Santo Domingo route
ITA Airways will launch a new seasonal route between Rome Fiumicino Airport and Santo Domingo as part of its 2026–2027 winter schedule.
The service will begin on November 30, 2026, operating once weekly on Mondays, before increasing to two weekly flights from mid-December through the end of March 2027. Flights will be operated using Airbus A330neo aircraft, offering Business, Premium Economy and Economy cabins.
The new route marks ITA Airways’ entry into Central America and further strengthens its presence across the Americas, where the airline already operates services to the United States, Canada, Brazil and Argentina.
The expansion is part of the carrier’s broader strategy to grow its intercontinental network, with long-haul operations seen as a key driver of future development. ITA Airways has also announced increased frequencies to destinations in India and Thailand as it continues to expand globally.
The airline said the new Santo Domingo route is aimed at both leisure travelers seeking winter sun destinations and the tourism sector, while also improving connectivity to and from Italy’s main hub in Rome.
