Iberia to Launch New Direct Madrid–Toronto Route in 2026

Airlines & Airports

Iberia is continuing its long-haul expansion with the launch of a new direct route between Madrid and Toronto, beginning 13 June 2026. The Spanish flag carrier will operate five weekly flights—on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays—using its latest-generation Airbus A321XLR aircraft.

The service strengthens Iberia’s growing presence in North America and supports its Flight Plan 2030, a €6 billion strategy focused on fleet renewal, network expansion, digitalisation and customer experience improvements.

During the upcoming summer season, Iberia will offer 37,000 seats between Madrid and Toronto.

Flight schedule (local times):

  • IB0367 Madrid → Toronto: 12:00 → 15:00

  • IB0368 Toronto → Madrid: 17:10 → 06:55 (+1)

“Toronto will be our 145th destination and an important milestone for Iberia,” said María Jesús López Solás, Iberia’s Chief Commercial, Network Development and Alliances Officer. “This route brings Canada closer to Spain and Europe, and operating it with the A321XLR shows our commitment to innovation, efficiency and sustainability.”

Toronto Pearson Airport welcomed the announcement, noting that nearly 70,000 passengers travel between Toronto and Madrid each year.

A321XLR Driving Iberia’s Transatlantic Growth

The new route will be flown by the Airbus A321XLR, the most efficient long-range aircraft in Iberia’s fleet. Iberia was the launch airline for this model, which offers up to 40% fuel savings compared with wide-body aircraft used on similar routes.

The aircraft features the new Airspace cabin, with larger overhead bins, LED lighting and an enhanced sense of space. It seats 182 passengers across Business and Economy cabins.

The announcement follows Iberia’s recent growth in the Americas, with new services launched to Orlando, Recife, Fortaleza and Monterrey. The carrier continues to expand its transatlantic footprint as part of its long-term strategy.
