Iberia Launches First-Ever Direct Flights Between Madrid and Orlando
Iberia has officially launched its first-ever direct flights between Madrid and Orlando, becoming the only airline offering nonstop service between Spain and Central Florida. The inaugural flight departed Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas Airport on October 26, 2025, carrying 272 passengers and landing at Orlando International Airport (MCO) just over nine hours later.
The new route operates four times per week—on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays—using an Airbus A330 with 254 seats across Business, Premium Economy, and Economy classes. The airline plans to offer over 46,000 seats during the winter season.
Celebrating the Launch
Ahead of departure, passengers were welcomed at Madrid Terminal 4S with a festive boarding gate decorated with a Walt Disney World arch, highlighting the city’s global reputation as the ultimate family travel destination. Onboard, younger travelers received special entertainment kits to mark the occasion.
“This new route is another step in our growth strategy in the United States,” said Beatriz Guillén, Iberia’s Customers Director. “Orlando is more than a tourist destination—it’s a global hub for leisure, conferences, and innovation. We’re proud to connect Spain directly to this vibrant city.”
A Gateway to Leisure and Business
Orlando is best known for Walt Disney World Resort, home to four theme parks, two water parks, dozens of themed hotels, and major attractions like Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge® and TRON Lightcycle/Run. But the city is also expanding as a key destination for MICE travel, thanks to the Orange County Convention Center, one of the largest in the U.S.
Nearby, Cape Canaveral adds to the region’s appeal with its ties to the space industry and cruise tourism.
“This new connection offers a world-class link between two vibrant destinations,” said Lance Lyttle, CEO of Orlando International Airport’s operating authority. “It strengthens our role as a true global gateway.”
Tiago Santos, General Manager of Disney Destinations for Spain and Portugal, added: “This partnership simplifies the journey for Spanish travelers heading directly to the magic.”

With the addition of Orlando, Iberia now serves 10 destinations in the United States, including New York, Miami, Boston, Chicago, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Washington D.C., Dallas, and Puerto Rico. The airline plans to operate an average of 150 weekly flights to the U.S. this winter, offering nearly 2 million seats in 2025.
The new route further strengthens Madrid’s role as a transatlantic hub, connecting Europe and the Americas through Iberia’s expanding network.
