Hyatt reveals World of Care updates

News

The brand has recently published the World of Care Highlights and Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DE&I) Report for 2021, in order to show the world the program’s progress.

With the occasion, Margaret Egan, Hyatt’s executive vice president and general counsel, declared:

“Caring for people so they can be their best has been at the core of Hyatt’s story for 65 years. Through World of Care, we embrace our responsibility and opportunity to work together to shape a more sustainable world and future. By intently focusing on driving progress against key ESG commitments like our environmental framework and Change Starts Here goals, we are holding ourselves accountable for continued action and progress in order to create the needed changes for our industry, society and planet.”

According to the report, ethnic workforce representation is on the rise across all races and all hierarchical level, from basic workers to managers, as Hyatt always showed its commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion.

Hyatt will continue to focus on 2025 DE&I targets, as part of the Change Starts Here project challenges featuring Black business ownership.

“At Hyatt, we believe in the power of belonging – of making people feel at home no matter where they are in the world. We constantly strive to reflect the world we care for with teams that achieve and grow together. To advance our vision of a world of understanding and care, we must continue to prioritise DE&I across every dimension of our business and take action to make meaningful progress against our goals”, added Malaika Myers, chief human resources officer at Hyatt.

Moreover, Hyatt is also committed to support human trafficking prevention, as the Hyatt Hotels Foundation has recently donated $500,000 to the “No Room for Trafficking Survivors Fund”, launched in partnership with the American Hotel & Lodging Association (AHLA).

Climate Action is another cause the company feels close to. In this regard, Hyatt will further focus on more sustainable hospitality practices, including a climate change relevant framework, water saving, waste recycling, responsible sourcing and environmental-friendly destinations. As a plus, Hyatt’s environmental goals for 2030 were approved by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi).
