Hurtigruten expands its Antarctic itineraries

Three more expedition ships have been added for the 2018 Antarctica cruising season, as the company promotes responsible and sustainable tourism. Introducing “Roald Amundsen” hybrid vessel as a part of the fleet serving the Antarctic continent, the Norwegian company aims to underline the importance of respecting the environment while experiencing adventure cruise tourism.
In addition, Hurtigruten targets the consolidation of its position on the expedition sailing market.
With the occasion of the announcement, Daniel Skjeldam, CEO of Hurtigruten, stated: “All operators must commit to the highest environmental standards in order to relieve the strains on the nature and wildlife of these pristine areas. Hurtigruten will lead by example, offering responsible, unique and meaningful adventures based on our more than 120 years of experience.”
“A Hurtigruten voyage is all about rich and meaningful experiences, taking our guests to destinations only we can sail to. We will take our passengers on unique experiences that no other operator can provide, with access to UNESCO World Heritage Sites on almost all itineraries,” Skjeldam added.
Along with Roald Amunnsen, the latest ship of the company, guests can explore the amazing continent on board of the Midnatsol and lead expedition cruise vessel Fram, departing from South-America and land stopping in Costa Rica, Peru, Chile, Patagonia and Argentina. San Blas Islands, Fort San Lorenzo, Boscas del Toro, Puerto Limón, Corn Islands, Isla de Providencia, Cayos Cochinos and Lighthouse Reef are the 8 ports of the expedition destinations that travellers can enjoy if choosing Hurtigruten’s unique experiences.
