Gulf Air to operate flights to Colombo

Gulf Air will launch services to the Sri Lankan capital city, Colombo, in 19 January 2017. The Bahrain carrier will fly five times weekly from Manama to Bandaranaike International Airport. This latest addition to Gulf Air’s network is in line with the airline’s business strategy which sees it strengthening its position as one of the Middle East’s largest network carriers, while serving key global destinations that provide strong business and tourism links to the Kingdom of Bahrain and the region.
Gulf Air chief executive officer Maher Salman Al Musallam said: “We are pleased to re-connect Bahrain and Colombo, meeting the demands of our customers across the globe and tapping into the significant commercial opportunity that exists from business and leisure travelers from both countries and, of course, facilitating connections for travelers across our network. This is a promising development which we believe will start 2017 on the right note, building momentum for Gulf Air’s further development over the course of the next year.”
Gulf Air is the principal flag carrier of Bahrain. Headquartered in Muharraq, adjacent to Bahrain International Airport, the airline operates scheduled services to 42 destinations in 23 countries across Africa, Asia and Europe. Its main base is Bahrain International Airport. Gulf Air connects Bahrain to the world and, as such, is a key national infrastructure asset, serving as a powerful driver for the economy and supporting the Kingdom’s on-going economic growth. More, Gulf Air was the Title Sponsor of the 2015 Formula 1 Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix and will be the Official Airline of the Bahrain International Airshow 2016.
