Finavia airports expand to over 140 destinations with new summer routes
Finavia’s airports will offer direct flights to more than 140 destinations in Finland and worldwide during the 2026 summer and autumn seasons, marking a significant expansion in international connectivity.
The summer schedule introduces several major developments, including the arrival of two of the world’s largest airlines at Helsinki Airport. China Southern Airlines has already launched flights from Beijing, while Emirates is set to begin daily operations from Dubai in October, further strengthening Helsinki’s role as a key transfer hub between Europe, Asia and the Middle East.
Regional connectivity is also improving, with new routes such as Oulu–Riga operated by airBaltic five times per week. Finnair is expanding its network with 12 new routes, including regional services from Kittilä to Alta in Norway and from Vaasa to Umeå in Sweden.
From Helsinki Airport, Finnair is adding multiple European destinations, including Catania, Florence, Kos, Luxembourg, Stavanger, Thessaloniki, Tirana, Turin and Valencia. The airline is also resuming long-haul flights to Toronto, alongside continued services to major North American cities such as New York, Dallas, Los Angeles, Chicago and Seattle.
Additional growth comes from other carriers, with Norwegian launching flights to Tirana and Luxair entering the Helsinki market with services to Luxembourg.
China Southern’s new Beijing–Helsinki route initially operates three times per week, with plans to increase to daily flights from mid-summer. Emirates’ upcoming Dubai route will further enhance long-haul connectivity ahead of the autumn travel season.
Overall, the expanded summer programme highlights Finland’s growing importance in global aviation, offering passengers more options for both leisure and business travel while reinforcing Helsinki Airport’s position as a major international hub.
