Farnborough airport in the UK targets net zero emissions by 2030

The project will feature a trial period of offering sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) at the same costs as standard fuel, from the 1st of July until the beginning of the Farnborough International Airshow on July 18th. The hub in the UK has already gained the “carbon neutrality” status from Airports Council International Europe, while aiming to be a “global showcase for airport sustainability” in the near future.
Farnborough Airport’s CEO Simon Geere declared:
“When it comes to supporting the decarbonisation of the aviation industry, we want to lead the way at Farnborough airport, which is why we have set ourselves one of the most ambitious targets in the industry, by committing to be net zero across our controllable emissions by 2030 or sooner.
“We want our customers to increasingly choose Farnborough airport because of our sustainability credentials, alongside our market leading state-of-the-art facilities and our exceptional levels of customer care.
“We want to continue to be the premier business aviation airport in the world, building upon our historic and pioneering legacy. We also want to set the benchmark for environmental performance within our sector.”
The latest Net Zero Roadmap initiative includes several environment friendly goals such as cutting carbon emissions from aircraft landing and take-off, airport’s buildings, service operations, additional airport vehicles, as well as from the passenger’s journeys to and from the air travel hub.
