Eurowings Unveils Premium Seats on Medium-Haul Flights
Eurowings has announced a new premium seating concept for medium-haul routes, introducing an upgraded cabin experience on its Airbus A320neo fleet. The announcement was made during the ITB Berlin travel trade fair, where the airline presented its latest product improvements.
The new Premium BIZ seats replace the traditional narrow-body seating layout in the first rows of the aircraft. Instead of the standard 2-3 configuration, Eurowings is installing a more spacious 2-2 layout in the first two rows, creating eight premium seats with greater comfort and privacy.
The airline says the upgrade follows a successful market test conducted on selected routes. Passenger feedback highlighted strong demand for more personal space and a higher level of comfort on medium-haul flights lasting between three and six hours.
The Premium BIZ seats will be installed on eight Airbus A320neo aircraft, which Eurowings typically deploys on longer medium-haul routes. The upgraded product includes adjustable footrests, USB charging ports, pillows, blankets and an amenity kit. Passengers will also receive an enhanced onboard service with an aperitif, hot meal served on porcelain and an expanded beverage selection.
According to Eurowings CEO Max Kownatzki, the move reflects changing customer expectations. While many airlines focus on increasing seat density, the Lufthansa Group subsidiary is investing in additional comfort while keeping fares competitive.
The airline plans to expand the Premium BIZ offering to more routes in the future, potentially including key business destinations such as London as well as popular leisure destinations like Mallorca and the Canary Islands.
