Djanet - A Popular Destination For Those In Search Of Tranquillity

Europeans are now flocking to a surreal oasis in the middle of the Sahara. Djanet, in south-east Algeria, is a jumping off point for exploring the lunar-like scenery of the Saharan area. Sandstone mountains and dunes protect the oasis. Prehistoric rock sculptures found there are among the most remarkable in the world.

In 2021, when Algeria began allowing visas upon arrival, travelling to Djanet got more simpler. Because visas are stamped into travellers' passports at airport immigration, this decreases the amount of pre-trip documentation that must be completed.

The adjacent Tassili n'Ajjer National Park is another major magnet for tourists, and it is not only because of Djanet. This park is one of Africa's most important, and it is known for its orange and black 'rock forests' and breathtaking sunset vistas. More than 15,000 works of ancient cave art spanning 6,000 B.C.E. to the present day may be found in the park, providing a visual record of climate shifts, animal migrations, and human development.

The value of Tassili has been recognized on a worldwide scale by its designation as a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage Site, a World Natural Heritage Site, and a biosphere reserve. Since Djanet is now directly accessible from Paris, the number of foreign tourists visiting the area has increased considerably.
