Disruptions Continue at BER Due to Cyberattack on Baggage System

Berlin Brandenburg Airport (BER) is warning passengers of ongoing disruptions to flight operations following a cyberattack on the external provider of its passenger and baggage handling system. As of 11 a.m. local time on 24 September 2025, check-in and boarding procedures are still being carried out mostly manually.
The affected software provider has stated that it could take several more days to restore fully functional and secure systems. Additional technical specialists have been brought in to expedite recovery.
As a result, passengers should expect longer processing times, flight delays, and possible cancellations. All travelers are strongly advised to check directly with their airline well before arriving at the airport to confirm the status of their flight.
The airport operator has mobilized all available resources and is actively working on alternative solutions to minimize the impact on travelers. A procedural change implemented yesterday morning has allowed baggage sorting to resume automatically by flight, helping to ease some of the strain.
To reduce wait times, BER strongly recommends using airline online check-in options. In-terminal self-service kiosks remain available for passengers flying with the 19 participating airlines, allowing travelers to check in and print boarding passes. Checked baggage can then be dropped off quickly at designated Fast-Bag-Drop stations.
The operator expressed regret for the inconvenience caused and thanked passengers for their patience.
