Discover Singapore – A stunning mix of cultures

News

In the last decade, the nation has been building its infrastructure and brought in numerous innovations, as well as high-class luxury. Today, the city is ready to amaze its tourist through a blend of Indian, Chinese and Malaysian cultures.

Here’s a fun fact: Singapore is one of only 3 city-states worldwide. Moreover, it is an island nation that features one main island and…62 offshore islands! Oh and, it’s not a joke, chewing gum has been banned here since 1992.

The best period of time to go visit Singapore is between February and April as this city is generally hot and humid, with soaring temperatures during summer and a lot of rain during the winter. So, the best time to go is when the rain stops and before the heat kicks in.

Here’s what you should visit:

The Gardens by the Bay are among the first things you need to see as soon as you land in Singapore. It is a major tourist draw and for very good reasons, as the nature park features 3 waterfall gardens and a vegetation-covered mountain engulfed in mist. If you still haven’t had enough, head over to the UNESCO site Singapore Botanic Gardens where you should find thousands of orchids and other tropical vegetation.

As you might already know, Singapore is famous for its shining downtown skyline and also for its neighborhoods that offer a tour through the best of multiple Asian cultures. Starting with the Hindu temples of Little India to the lanterns of Chinatown, each one of these neighborhoods immerses visitors in a new corner of Asia.

If you’re traveling with kids, there’s an entertainment center that’s even better than Disneyland right outside the main island. Sentosa Island has pretty much everything you need to keep the children entertained, and even yourself.

Here’s what Sean Devlin says about visiting Singapore:

"When you first visit Singapore, you’ll feel like you've entered into a city of the future. The beautiful bay, striking architecture, and cultural landmarks are a sight to behold. But the most fascinating element to me is how the city perfectly blends three cultures. It's immediately evident how this creates a diverse mindset in Singapore's citizens, and spreads to visitors from around the world. You get the sense that you’re in a truly cosmopolitan city, bringing the best parts of Southeast Asia all onto one island."
