New Era of Connectivity
Delta Air Lines, a global leader in premium air travel, and Riyadh Air, Saudi Arabia’s new full-service global carrier, have entered into a Strategic Cooperation Memorandum of Understanding. This partnership aims to provide a wide range of benefits for customers traveling between North America, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and other destinations.
Expanding Networks
The agreement, signed at Delta’s World Headquarters in Atlanta, sets the stage for a strategic partnership designed to enhance connectivity, expand networks, and drive future growth for both airlines. Delta CEO Ed Bastian emphasized the significance of the partnership, stating, "This collaboration will open an array of new choices, benefits, and destinations for our customers."
Exclusive Partnership Benefits
Delta will serve as Riyadh Air’s exclusive partner in North America, while Riyadh Air will be Delta’s exclusive partner in Riyadh and beyond. This exclusive arrangement is expected to introduce new travel options, including future Delta service between the U.S. and Riyadh.
Long-term Collaboration
The partnership envisions a long-term relationship, subject to regulatory approvals, including interline and codeshare connectivity, loyalty program integration, digital transformation, and broader aviation services such as maintenance, repair, and ground handling. The airlines also plan to explore an immunized joint venture to further enhance network planning and regional growth.
Driving Sustainability and Innovation
Both airlines are committed to sustainability and aim to implement best practices throughout their operations. The partnership will also focus on customer experience and digital innovation to provide an elevated travel experience.
Opening New Destinations
Delta customers will gain access to new destinations in Saudi Arabia and beyond, including potential nonstop service between the U.S. and King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh. Riyadh Air customers will benefit from Delta’s extensive North American network, providing access to hundreds of destinations with Delta’s renowned service and reliability.
Transforming Travel in Saudi Arabia
Riyadh Air, set to begin operations in 2025, is part of Saudi Arabia’s broader vision to become a premier travel destination. The Kingdom’s $800 billion investment in the tourism sector aims to attract both leisure and business travelers, with projects such as luxury resorts on the Red Sea, the Diriyah and al-Ula historical sites, and the 2030 Riyadh Expo.
Looking Forward
Delta, approaching its 100th anniversary, and Riyadh Air are committed to learning from each other and enhancing their services for mutual customers, employees, investors, and communities. "We’ll have many opportunities to learn from each other and become better airlines as we fly forward together," said Bastian.
