Delta Air Lines to offer free in-flight messaging services

News

WhatsApp, iMessage and Facebook will be available for all Delta Air Lines passengers. The American airline headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia is the first air-carrier that will offer its clients the chance to remain connected with friends and family even when flying.

All passengers will have access to free WhatsApp, Facebook Messenger and iMessage chat services starting October 1st.

“Even the most seasoned travelers can find themselves mid-air and caught out by a last-minute cancellation or arrangement. Rather than having to count down the hours until landing, Delta customers can continue socializing or working with the tap of a smart-phone and enjoy peace of mind at every stage of the flight,” explained Tim Mapes, chief marketing specialist at Delta Air Lines, with the occasion of the launch.

The free-messaging services will be accessed via company’s Wi-Fi portal page, on every Delta aircraft that uses Gogo in-flight internet.

The decision came as a part of the company’s customer experience consistent investments, in order to boost the quality of the services it provides. Moreover, Delta will continue to upgrade the Wi-Fi connection and the entertainment features of the aircrafts, so that passengers can have enhanced flexibility and comfort while traveling between destinations.
