Copenhagen Airport Sees 13% Passenger Increase in February

Over 1.8 million travelers passed through Copenhagen Airport in February, marking a 13% year-on-year growth, with a busy spring and Easter ahead.
Copenhagen Airport, a key hub for international and domestic flights, witnessed significant growth in February 2024, as more than 1.8 million travelers chose the airport for their journeys. This represents a 13% increase compared to the same month last year, highlighting the continued upward trend in travel post-pandemic.
Peter Krogsgaard, Chief Commercial Officer of Copenhagen Airports A/S, expressed satisfaction with the growth, attributing it to the strong demand for winter break vacations to both warm beaches and snowy mountains. The two winter break weeks alone saw around 1.1 million passengers, with the 25th of February marking the month's busiest day with 79,000 travelers.
London emerged as the top destination from Copenhagen, featuring 124 weekly flights to Heathrow, Stansted, and Gatwick airports, and experiencing a 6% year-on-year growth in passengers.
Looking ahead, Copenhagen Airport is gearing up for a bustling Easter period, with an estimated 1.5 million passengers expected to travel through the airport. This would mark an 8% increase from the previous year. Popular destinations include the perennial favorite London for city breaks, and Spanish locales like Malaga, Barcelona, and Gran Canaria for those seeking sunshine.
Copenhagen Airport advises passengers to plan ahead, arrive on time, and utilize self-service options and online check-in to ensure a smooth start to their holiday. Additional travel tips and information are available on the airport's website and mobile app.
The leap year contributed to February's passenger surge, offering one extra day for travel. Adjusted for this, the real passenger growth stands at 9%, indicating a robust recovery and sustained interest in travel as the industry heads into a busy spring and Easter season.
