Chinese Airlines Announce New Routes for This Year

News

Now, for the first time since the 2020 coronavirus outbreak began, China is allowing some tourists back into the country.

Travellers can once again visit the nation since the quarantine policy has been lifted and other restrictions on visitors have been loosened. However, after the first influx of Chinese expats returning home to see their loved ones, the country should experience a rise in tourists visiting for fun.

Meanwhile, the major Chinese airlines are expanding their services. All things considered, this means resuming pre-pandemic flying schedules and frequencies.

Some big new routes, however, are making it simpler than ever for tourists from Budapest, Istanbul, Johannesburg, and other large cities to reach China.

Destination: Athens, Greece from Shanghai

Chinese and Greek officials had intended to expand air ties before to the outbreak. Now, nevertheless, one of the most crucial links has been re-established — the first direct flight from Shanghai Pudong (PVG) to Athens came the last week of December. The 10.5-hour journey will now be operated by Air China once each week.

From Guangzhou to Izmir

This year, a new service on China Southern Airlines will connect China's third-largest metropolis with Istanbul. Starting on January 10, the Guangzhou-based airline will begin service to Istanbul Airport (IST). There are roughly 11 hours of flying time from Guangzhou to Istanbul, and about 9.5 hours on the way back. Since Turkish Airlines originates from IST, this is wonderful news for Chinese passengers searching for an alternative entry point to Europe.

Beijing to Johannesburg

China has spent years working to improve ties with Africa, and one method it has found to achieve this is through facilitating transit between the two continents. Soon, you may take a direct trip on Air China from Beijing Capital International Airport (PEK) to O.R. Tambo International Airport in Johannesburg, South Africa (JHB). No official launch date has been disclosed, although the new route was announced by Air China among many other major ones.

Fly from Chongqing to Ho Chi Minh City

Chonqing, a major city in southwest China, is receiving many intriguing new flight routes this summer. The first is a trip to Vietnam's Ho Chi Minh City on a nonstop flight on Air China.
Chongqing is home to more than 30 million people, so this will make it easier for some of them to go to Hanoi to see the Reunification Palace, Central Post Office, War Remnants Museum, and other attractions.

The route from Chongqing to Budapest

Air China also operates a once-weekly route from Chongqing to Ferenc Liszt International Airport (BUD) in Budapest, Hungary. More flights will now link the two countries, as in 2015, a direct service started operating from Beijing to Budapest, and in 2019, service began operating from Shanghai.

A trip from Xi'an to Almaty

It will be easier for those living in Xi'an, China, the location of the terracotta warriors, to visit Almaty, Kazakhstan, another city with a significant historical legacy as a result of its location as a Silk Road city dating back to at least 1000 BC.

On January 6, China Southern Airlines launched service between Xi'an and Almaty International Airport (ALA). There is a high probability that this trip is only the beginning of a series. China and Kazakhstan have strong diplomatic connections, shown by President Xi Jinping visiting the nation for his first Covid-era trip outside of China last year.

Nanning to Phnom Penh

China Southern Airlines is strengthening links with Cambodia by flying twice weekly between Phnom Penh and Nanning in southern China. While Nanning is near to China's frontier with Vietnam, there are presently no airlines operating directly from Nanning to either Hanoi or Ho Chi Minh City, thus this increasing connectivity with Cambodia may also open up better accessibility to south-east Asian locations. The service commenced on December 22.
