China Southern Airlines to Launch Beijing–Helsinki Service
China Southern Airlines will inaugurate a new **non-stop route between Beijing Daxing International Airport and Helsinki Airport, marking its first scheduled service to Finland and to the Nordic region. The service is scheduled to begin on 29 March 2026.
The route will initially operate three times weekly — on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays — using a **Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner. From 20 June, the frequency will increase to daily flights to meet growing demand for both business and leisure travel.
Finavia, the operator of Helsinki Airport, says the new connection restores a highly sought-after direct link that has been absent for five years. The service is designed to benefit passengers travelling between Europe and China by offering time-efficient connections with onward options through both Helsinki and Beijing.
Passengers departing from Beijing will enjoy seamless access to Helsinki, which serves as a key gateway to other European destinations, while travellers from Finland and elsewhere in Europe will be able to connect onward to major cities across China and Asia.
Petri Vuori, Senior Vice President responsible for route development at Finavia, said the reopening of this route reflects strong demand and underscores Helsinki Airport’s role as a strategic hub linking Northern Europe with Asia
