Cabify to Add 200 Fresh Electric Vehicles to its Fleet in Spain

Today, Cabify, the Spanish multi-mobility giant, revealed plans to add 196 cutting-edge 100% electric vehicles to its Vecttor fleet, a subsidiary of the Cabify group.
These eco-friendly cars are slated to be accessible through Cabify's platform before the culmination of the current calendar year. This strategic move is a pivotal component of Cabify's expansive project aimed at electrifying its entire fleet, receiving backing from the European Investment Bank and the European Commission.
The forthcoming fleet expansion, exclusively electric, will be deployed in Madrid within the Vecttor fleet, serving both individual users and corporate entities opting for Cabify to navigate the city sustainably. These innovative vehicles will be offered across various categories, including the 'Cabify Eco,' designed exclusively for businesses and featuring solely electrified vehicles encompassing hybrids, plug-in hybrids, and 100% electric models. Furthermore, these electric vehicles will also be available in other categories such as 'Cabify,' 'Kids,' and 'Plus.'
The selected models include the Tesla Model 3 Long Range RWD, Kia eNIRO Concept, Citroën ë-C4x Shine, and Hyundai Ioniq 5. These cutting-edge vehicles boast zero-emission capabilities and a range exceeding 400 kilometers in urban use. The technical specifications and sizes of these vehicles make them ideal for passenger transport, offering a sustainable alternative. This fleet expansion is anticipated to prevent the emission of 1,700 tons of CO2 annually and eliminate the consumption of over one million liters of fuel.
Juan de Antonio, the CEO and Founder of Cabify, expressed:
“With the support of the European Investment Bank and the European Commission, we are taking the necessary steps to lead the decarbonization of the urban mobility sector. Reaching zero emissions by 2025 is an ambitious goal, but we have the right strategy to achieve it. These advances also allow us to help other freelancers and companies in the sector to take a step towards electrification thanks to our own experience and agreements with manufacturers."
Miguel Ángel Toledo, CEO of Vecttor, emphasized the company's dedication to electrification, stating:
“From Vecttor, we continue to lead the way in electrification in Spain, and this milestone is further proof of this. After incorporating these cars, all Vecttor vehicles in Spain will have ECO and Zero labels, being 24% of cars with Zero labels and the remaining 76% ECO. In contrast, nationally, less than 4% of the national fleet has one of these labels. Our commitment to technology and sustainability is our best letter of introduction.”
The overarching objective of this initiative aligns with Cabify's Sustainable Business Strategy, with a target to achieve 100% of trips conducted in electric vehicles or other zero-emission technologies by 2025 in Spain and by 2030 in Latin America.
Despite the ongoing pursuit of these long-term goals, Cabify remains steadfast in its commitment to emission reduction and offsetting. Since 2018, all trips on the Cabify platform have been carbon-neutral, with emissions offset through local projects in the seven countries of operation, including Argentina, Chile, Colombia, Spain, Mexico, Peru, and Uruguay.
Remarkably, over the past year, Cabify has managed to decrease the total emissions from platform trips in Spain, even with an increase in the volume of trips. This achievement, a historic first for Cabify, can be attributed to an 11% reduction in average CO2 emissions per kilometer, facilitated by various technological advancements and the integration of more sustainable or zero-emission vehicles like hydrogen and electric cars.
