British Airways to Offer Free Starlink Wi-Fi

Airlines & Airports

British Airways has announced a partnership with Starlink to provide all passengers with free, high-speed in-flight Wi-Fi starting in 2026. The move marks another major step in the airline’s £7 billion transformation programme aimed at improving customer experience and modernising its operations.

The rollout will see Starlink’s satellite technology — known for its low-Earth orbit network delivering fast, reliable internet even in remote areas — fitted across British Airways’ short- and long-haul aircraft. Customers in every cabin will be able to stream video, work, or stay connected on multiple devices from gate to gate, all at no extra cost.

“This is a game-changer for us and our customers,” said British Airways Chairman and CEO Sean Doyle. “With Starlink, passengers will enjoy lightning-fast, low-lag internet from the moment they board to the moment they land — even over oceans. It’s Wi-Fi that feels like home, even at 38,000 feet.”

The Starlink integration follows several other investments under the airline’s multi-year transformation plan. These include new lounge concepts in Miami and Dubai, refurbished lounges in cities such as Singapore and Seattle, the addition of 36 new aircraft, and the introduction of advanced AI systems to improve punctuality and predictive maintenance.

British Airways has already implemented more than 1,000 transformation initiatives, from digital compensation systems for disrupted passengers to redesigned short-haul cabins crafted with British-made materials.

The next phase of improvements includes a new First Class suite with a 32-inch 4K screen, additional Boeing 787-10 aircraft, and a revamped mobile app expected in 2026.

According to the airline, 81% of its flights in 2025 have already departed within 15 minutes of schedule — its best performance since 2012 — reflecting the success of its technology-led strategy.

Once completed, the Starlink Wi-Fi service will be available on all British Airways mainline and Euroflyer flights.
