Booking.com Unveils AI Trip Planner: Your Next Trip, Virtually Planned

Booking.com, a leading online travel agency, has entered the world of AI by launching a new ChatGPT powered trip planner.
Booking.com is one of the leading online travel companies in the world. They are hoping that AI will make your next vacation easier.
The new AI Trip Planner, announced today (27th June), is designed to assist you in finding the right accommodation and destinations in a conversational manner.
Booking.com's CTO, Rob Francis says that the process is similar to how you might begin planning a vacation with your friends or partner.
The CEO of Booking.com, Glenn Fogel, told Euronews Travel that it would eventually provide the same benefits and services as a human travel agent. This was revealed at ETC’s Destination Europe Summit.
The tool, which is powered by OpenAI's ChatGPT in part, will be launched as a beta on Booking.com on 28th June to a select group of US travellers.
Can Booking.com AI Trip Planner help travellers to plan their trips more easily?
Booking.com claims that the AI Trip Planner is a great tool to plan your trip, get ideas and create daily itinerary.
Rob says you'll be able "to chat with it in a very human, natural way." After you have explained your requirements in general or specific terms, such as a romantic hotel on the beach or an apartment with air conditioning near your favorite restaurant, it will refine its search and find you the perfect accommodation.
ChatGPT is a popular chatbot created by OpenAI. It uses massive amounts of data and answers questions in a highly personalized way. It may not "think", but it is the closest to a human-like brain that has been created.
Booking.com has integrated the results into their site, so you can also see and book prices with just a click.
Can AI trip planning develop further?
Glenn says, "Wouldn't it be wonderful if [travel] was all seamless and frictionless?"
He believes that in the future AI will help travellers to "instantly fix" their bookings in the event of changes and cancellations, but it will "see the problem before the traveller sees the problem... and suggest how to fix it."
Bots can solve many problems by combining bookings for travel, accommodations, and other services under one payment. If a flight is delayed, for example, the hotel will be notified and the airport pick-up automatically changed.
Glenn says, "That's the future."
