BER Expects 3.7M Summer Travelers by 7 September

Travel Tips & Tricks

With school holidays in Berlin and Brandenburg starting next week, Berlin Brandenburg Airport (BER) is gearing up for a busy summer travel season. From 23 July to 7 September, the airport expects around 3.7 million passengers to pass through its terminals.

Top Holiday Destinations & Flights

Mediterranean hotspots like Spain, Turkey, Italy, and France are again among the most popular choices. Palma de Mallorca remains the top destination, with up to 70 weekly flights operated by Eurowings, easyJet, Ryanair, and Sundair. In total, more than 70 airlines will connect BER to 150 destinations in 50 countries this summer.

Upgraded Security and New Tech

BER continues enhancing passenger flow and safety:

  • 20 CT scanners will be active across Terminals 1 and 2 by holiday start.

  • Liquids no longer need to be unpacked at these scanners.

  • Fast Bag Drop is available with over 120 self-check-in machines across terminals.

Key Travel Tips for Summer 2025

  • Arrive early: Ensure you’re at the correct terminal well in advance.

  • BER Runway: Pre-book a free security slot up to 7 days ahead at runway.berlin-airport.de.

  • BER Biometrics: Use contactless border control services via biometrics.berlin-airport.de.

  • S-Bahn disruptions: From 24 July–4 August, S9 will not run to BER. S45 will run every 10 minutes.

  • Parking: Reserve in advance at parken.berlin-airport.de.

  • Valet service: Drop your car directly at the terminal and even request cleaning.

  • Currency & duty-free: Use intercity.berlin-airport.de to book train travel or visit REWE and Kamps (open 24/7) at Terminal 1.

Know Before You Fly

  • Powerbanks and e-cigarettes must go in carry-on baggage.

  • Liquids: Still limited to 100ml containers, 1 liter total.

  • EasyPass: Use automated passport control if eligible (biometric passports only).

  • Travel info and offers: Check out coupons and discounts in the BER app for shops and dining.
