Barcelona Airport Begins Full Renovation of F&B Areas
Aena has commenced a comprehensive renovation of the restaurants and food courts at Josep Tarradellas Barcelona‑El Prat Airport as part of efforts to modernise the airport’s passenger experience.
The project involves the overhaul of existing food and beverage spaces across key terminals, introducing 15 new brands and operators that have not previously been present at the airport. Among the new concepts set to debut are international and local names designed to appeal to a broad range of travellers.
The renovation covers dozens of dining outlets and food courts, with a focus on expanding the choice, quality and overall ambience of culinary offerings. The refreshed F&B programme aims to deliver enhanced dining experiences, blending fast-casual, premium and international flavours tailored to evolving passenger tastes.
Aena’s board has approved the project as part of its broader commercial strategy, with operators such as Areas and Pansfood managing a significant share of the renovated spaces. The initiative also includes improvements to layout and passenger flow, creating inviting environments for both departing and arriving travellers.
Airport officials say the renovation will not only boost the quality and variety of food and beverage options but also contribute to the overall visitor experience and revenue potential at one of Spain’s busiest international gateways.
The work reflects growing investment in airport commercial offerings as traffic and passenger expectations continue to rise, aligning Barcelona-El Prat with other major European hubs in terms of amenities and service standards.
