Bahrain: accommodation investments will reach US$10bn by 2020

15 new hotels and resorts will be build in the island kingdom of Bahrain during the next three years.
The construction of the new buildings will be the result of a collective investment of more than $10 billion. The decision will make Bahrain one of the most desirable and attractive holiday destination in the world.
Exclusive brands, such as One&Only, Wyndham, Fairmont, Vida, The Address, Ibis and Pullman are eager to open new businesses in the kingdom by 2022, as the island already hosts big industry names, including the Ritz-Carlton, Four Seasons and Sofitel.
The existing 190 hotels now can provide over 16.500 exclusive rooms for tourists choosing Bahrain, one of the Middle East's more charming enclaves, as their most memorable travel experience.
With the new additions, the little Arab monarchy in the Persian Gulf will be the home of over 200 hotels and resorts, ranging from amazing five-star hotels, luxuriant four-star and three-star hotels, full-service apartments and beach-fronted resorts that can guarantee an unforgettable holiday experience.
“These future investments in the hospitality sector will bring several new international hotel chains to the kingdom and raise the profile of existing ones. They are expected to increase hotel capacity in the country by around 4,000 hotel rooms, by 2020, as well as fill the gaps in the market, especially in the mid-market and luxury sector. These new developments will both help to meet rising demand and attract new visitors to the Kingdom. Bahrain showed strong growth in tourist numbers in 2016, witnessing a six per cent increase in the number of tourist arrivals, receiving 12.2 million,” Khalid Al Rumaihi, CEO at EDB commented.
Bahrain is the perfect combination of modern world and historical heritages, with a liberal culture and breath-taking views, that gathers tens of thousands of visitors each year for the Grand Prix event, shopping and entertainment.
