Autonomous air taxi developed by Bell Helicopter
Public transport of the future will be upgraded with the flying taxis you’ve seen in sci-fi movies.
As Bell Helicopter's representatives have announced, the urban air taxi’s prototype will make its entry at the CES in Las Vegas.
The technical concept revolves around a hybrid aircraft featuring both a drone and a helicopter elements, four-passenger seats and the capacity of reaching 150 miles per hour.
According to WIRED, the air taxi will bring to the public a more efficient transportation way for fees comparable to common Uber ride shares nowadays.
The cabin of the taxi will feature free Wi-Fi, wireless charging, video calling and AI systems.
At the beginning of the project’s implementation the company will hire human pilots. Nevertheless, the goal is that the pod pilots itself from “vertiport” to “vertiport”, respecting the programmed routes that the clients wish to take around the cities with the help of a revolutionary software.
“The future of urban air taxi is closer than many people realize. We believe in the positive impact our design will have on addressing transportation concerns in cities worldwide,” declared Mitch Snyder, Bell Helicopter’s CEO.
