Anticipated air travel service disruptions across Europe

News

According to France's DGAC civil aviation authority, as several regional airports were closed and air traffic controllers' began a strike, "cancellations and significant delays across the country" are expected for this period.

Eurocontrol also backs up these statements, while registering total delays of more than 500.000 minutes, causing “significant disruption” of the regular flight schedules all across Europe.

This situation comes as last Friday alone, Air France suspended around 400 planned services and Ryanair cancelled 420 flights, leading to serious discomfort for the passengers.

DGAC and Eurocontrol are currently working together to keep the situation under control and divert affected planes.

The SNCTA air traffic controllers' union declared that the reason for the strike is directly connected to the high inflation rate and the low pay. According to its representatives, a new strike is scheduled between September 28 and September 30. The move is expected to cause more air traffic difficulties in Europe.
