American Express Unveils Its Largest Centurion Lounge at Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport

Airlines & Airports

American Express opens its largest Centurion Lounge at ATL, featuring local cuisine, a whiskey bar, and unique design inspired by Atlanta, enhancing the travel experience for Card Members.

American Express has officially opened the doors to its newest and largest Centurion Lounge at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL) on February 14, 2024. Spanning nearly 26,000 square feet, the lounge sets a new standard for luxury and convenience in airport amenities. This addition to the Centurion Lounge network underscores American Express's commitment to enhancing travel experiences for its Card Members, especially at the world's busiest airport.

The lounge offers a suite of premium amenities, including local culinary delights curated by Atlanta-based Chef Deborah VanTrece. The menu, inspired by global soul food, incorporates fresh, local ingredients and celebrates the diverse cultural fabric of Atlanta. Alongside, the lounge introduces The Reserve by American Express, the network's first whiskey bar, offering a curated selection of signature cocktails and American whiskeys, designed by Centurion Mixologist Jim Meehan.

Designed with Atlanta's nickname, "the city in the forest," in mind, the lounge features biophilic elements, including a 50-year-old olive tree and a custom light sculpture mimicking a forest canopy. This tranquil setting is complemented by multiple outdoor terraces, offering passengers a unique opportunity to enjoy the airfield views, a first for the Centurion Lounge network.

Art and design play a pivotal role in the lounge's ambiance, with commissioned pieces from local artists such as Lucha Rodríguez and Michi Meko, adding a personal touch that reflects Atlanta's vibrant art scene. The lounge's commitment to inclusivity is evident in its dedicated food and beverage station, catering to gluten-free and vegan preferences, ensuring a welcoming environment for all travelers.

Audrey Hendley, President of American Express Travel, highlighted the lounge's importance to Card Members frequenting ATL, noting the thoughtful integration of amenities and local touches that aim to create memorable travel experiences. The opening of this lounge is part of American Express's ongoing effort to meet its Card Members' needs through the Global Lounge Collection™, which offers access to an extensive network of lounges worldwide.

This expansion at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport is just one aspect of American Express's broader strategy to enhance its Centurion Lounge Network, with upcoming openings at Reagan National Airport (DCA) and Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR). As American Express continues to invest in its lounge offerings, travelers can look forward to more luxurious and comfortable spaces to relax and work before their flights.
