American Airlines to Host Snowball Express

News

American Airlines will be bringing back the annual Snowball Express, which it has been doing since 2020's pandemic.

The airline will fly approximately 2,000 families of fallen soldiers to Orlando International Airport (MCO) where they will enjoy a five-day Disney World experience. This announcement comes as the airline looks to close a successful year in growth and recovery.

Snowball Express, a yearly tradition started by the Gary Sinise Foundation in partnership with American Airlines, aims to support Gold Star Families and provide them with support and experiences that help in their memories of loved ones.

The partnership sponsors an annual trip to Disney World each year for more than 1,700 children and their parents or guardians who have lost their loved ones. American Airlines provides transportation for these children and their parents, from wherever they live to Orlando and back. Gary Sinise Foundation coordinates activities and sponsors a 5-day Disney World experience for families of fallen soldiers.

American Airlines donated 11 charter planes, all manned by volunteers, to the cause. The airline also provided 700 tickets for commercial flights to families who traveled from over 500 cities. Some of these are in countries such as Japan or West Africa.

In 2006, the first Snowball Express was held. From 2006 to 2020, the tradition continued annually until the outbreak of coronavirus. 2022 is the first Snowball Express.

American Airlines had a great year

American Airlines' successful year is complete with the return of Snowball Express. The carrier launched a daily service between Miami and Montevideo, Sao Paulo, and Buenos Aires in the last month. The airline plans to increase its service from Dallas and Rome, as well as to open a new route to the British Virgin Islands next year.

This rapid expansion indicates a return to normalcy after two consecutive years of low demand, which has had a negative impact on the entire aviation industry. Some routes have seen demand rise to levels not seen before the pandemic. This indicates that there has been both a complete recovery and growth in certain sectors.

After a year of growth, recovery, and success for American Airlines, Snowball Express is finally back. Its increasing profits and partnership in the Gary Sinise Foundation has allowed it to continue its growth in 2019 and offer Gold Star Families a better way to remember their losses. American Airlines' gesture to support veterans and their families is touching and heartwarming. Other airlines should promote similar gestures.
